The goal is to capture 3 (or more) opponent stones. Game ends when a first player has captured 3 or more stones. A repetition of an exact previous position is forbidden. Other rules are similar to Capture Go.
Connecting stones is important skill both in capture go and go. Keeping stones connected helps keep stones safe. If the opponent can cut stones into separate groups, it is more difficult to protect both groups.

In the end black cannot reduce white liberties to one, and the ladder fails. The result is bad for black. Blacks stones are weak, and no white stone is captured. White can expect to attack or capture some of the black stones.
