Below are some examples of capturing stones. In all cases black A can capture white stones (B).

One of the players takes black "stones" and the other player takes white "stones". The board is a grid of 9 by 9 lines.
The game starts with 4 stones are on the board as shown in the diagram.
Black player starts the game. Each player plays a single stone of their own color. A player can play to any empty intersection. A player may not pass. Once the stone is played it is never moved to another intersection.
Un jugador toma "piedras" negras y otro jugador toma "piedras" blancas. El tablero es una cuadríícula de 9 por 9 lííneas.
El juego comienza con 4 piedras en el tablero como se muestra en el diagrama.
El jugador negro comienza el juego. El jugador juega una piedra de su propio color. El jugador puede jugar en cualquier interseccióón vacíía. El jugador no puede pasar. Una vez que se juega la piedra, nunca se mueve a otra interseccióón.

The player can capture a stone by playing into its last liberty. In the diagram a white stone A is captured when black plays to B. Liberties are empty intersection connected to a stone by line.
El jugador puede capturar una piedra jugando en su úúltima libertad. En el diagrama, la piedra blanca A se captura cuando las negras juegan con B. Las libertades son intersecciones vacíías conectadas a la piedra por líínea.

If players stones are in atari, he should try to increase their liberties so that the opponent cannot capture then in his turn.

A string of stones is captured by playing into string's last liberty. In the diagram white stones (A) are captured when black plays into B. A stone string consists all the stones connected by lines. A string does not connect diagonally.
Una cadena de pedres es captura jugant a la úúltima llibertat de la cadena. Al diagrama les pedres blanques (A) seran capturades quan negre jugui a B. Una cadena consisteix en un grup de pedres connectades per líínies. No hi ha connexióó en diagonal.

La partida començça amb 4 pedres al tauler tal i com mostra el diagrama.
Negre començça. Una jugada consisteix en col·locar una pedra del color que toqui en una interseccióó buida. No es pot passar. Un cop la pedra s'ha jugat, no es pot bellugar cap a un altre banda.
