One of the players takes black "stones" and the other player takes white "stones". The board is a grid of 9 by 9 lines.
The game starts with 4 stones are on the board as shown in the diagram.
Black player starts the game. Each player plays a single stone of their own color. A player can play to any empty intersection. A player may not pass. Once the stone is played it is never moved to another intersection.
Un jugador porta les "pedres" negres i l'altre les blanques. El tauler éés una quadríícula de 9x9 líínies.
La partida començça amb 4 pedres al tauler tal i com mostra el diagrama.
Negre començça. Una jugada consisteix en col·locar una pedra del color que toqui en una interseccióó buida. No es pot passar. Un cop la pedra s'ha jugat, no es pot bellugar cap a un altre banda.

If none of the opponent’s stones is in atari, then the player should check if any of his own stones are in atari.
If players stones are in atari, he should try to increase their liberties so that the opponent cannot capture then in his turn.
Si cap de les pedres de l'oponent estàà en atari, llavors el jugador hauria de comprovar si alguna de les seves pedres o grups ho estàà.
Si n'hi ha algun, hauria de mirar d'augmentar les seves llibertats, de manera que l'oponent no pugui capturar la pedra o grup de pedres.
