If black player is less skilled than white, a handicap can be used to make the game interesting. Black player may get 2 to 9 handicap stones at the start of the game. In a handicap game white gets 0.5 extra points (komi).

Hactar uses Japanese rules for calculating result.

Окончательный счёт складывается из:
* захваченной территории (1 пункт=1 очку)
* захваченных камней соперника (1 камень = 1 очку)
Чёрные получают преимущество первого хода, в компенсацию за это белым дополнительно добавляется 6,5 очков. Эту компенсацию называют коми.
Hactar использует японские правила для подсчёта результата.

W czasie gry bez wsparcia - białe otrzymują od razu 6.5 punktu (komi), jako odszkodowanie za prawo czarnych do wykonania pierwszego ruchu.

Po zakończeniu gry następuje obliczenie wyniku. Każdy kamień który jest na planszy ale mógłby być zbity uznawany jest za zbity.
Liczba punktów gracza składa się z następujących wyników:

Grę rozpoczynają czarne kładąc kamień na planszy. Celem gry jest otocznie pustego terytorium i wzięcie do niewoli jak największej ilości kamieni. Gra kończy się gdy gracze kolejno spasują.
Kamienie są zbijane w ten sam sposób jak w grze Atari-Go.
Powtarzanie sytuacji na planszy - podobnie jak w Złap 3 - jest zakazane (ko).
